Orange and Rockland announces 2016 Demand Response Program

Orange and Rockland a NY utility affiliated with Con Edison has released their 2016 Demand Response (DR) program. As with their parent company Con Edison, O&R will have a DR program this summer. Customers enrolled in NYISO programs can also participate and get incentives for enrolling and participating in the O&R program read the article. The main requirement is being a customer of O&R, having an interval meter with communication capabilities and the ability to curtail at least 50 kW. Enrollment deadlines are April 1 2016 to participate in the May 2016 capability period. Curtailment can take two paths: Sustained which is energy efficiency upgrades, and Active which is shedding load with generators or turning off loads such as: HVAC, Lighting, Elevators and production equipment. Customer may enroll through third party aggregators or directly if their facility qualifies. Incentives from O&R vary depending on the type of DR program a customer is enrolled in. Our staff can assist you with that or you can go direct to O&R. The utility is also providing rebates and can pay between 25% and 75% of qualifying DR projects. Always check with the utility for details and to make sure incentives are still available and your project qualifies.
